Don Angel
Guatemala
Renardo “Nayo” Ovalle Vides manages Vides58, a company that can trace its history back to when Nayo’s own grandfather, Jorge Vides, purchased his first plot of hobby farmland in 1958. Now comprised of six farms in Huehuetenango, a cupping lab in Guatemala City, and a team of coffee professionals ranging from farmers to mill managers to Q-graders, Vides58 continues to grow and hone its craft year in and year out. This offering comes from a farm purchased in 2017 from its namesake, Angel de Leon, with the intention of pushing the quality of favored varieties like Caturra, Bourbon, and San Ramon.
The primary values and focuses of Vides58 - quality coffee, intentional supply chain relationships, and transparency and sustainability - make them a natural partnership for Coava.
High elevation, meticulous production practices, and decades worth of expertise and refinement of craft all add to the elegant and well-rounded qualities of this coffee.
Don Angel is a coffee we recommend to folks looking for a coffee that is approachable yet complex. It features a well-rounded profile with layers of crisp red apple, rich dark chocolate, and sweet-tart hints of hibiscus.
