Alamor
Ecuador
The small town of Alamor is surrounded by the highlands of the canton of Puyango and a nearby petrified forest that dates back to the Cretaceous period. Coffee has been an integral part of this community's culture for more than a century, and this history makes for an approach to coffee production that is steeped in tradition. The 150 small-scale producers grow traditional varietals that are then sun-dried on patios. While the average producer is about 60 years old, the younger generations are beginning to take over as premiums for quality are making coffee farming a viable livelihood once again.
The El Alamor producer group has made strides in quality the last several years, and the resulting offering showcases a beautiful representation of the region.
The El Alamor producer group has a long history of working with traditional varietals, leading to a strong collective knowledge that is highly favorable for producing specialty coffee.
Alamor is a coffee we recommend to those looking for a solid South American coffee from growing region newer to Coava. It features a balanced profile with a diverse range of deep, sweet flavors.
