Fazenda Casa Nova
Brasil
Paulo Federico produces coffee in the micro-region of Araponga in the state of Minas Gerais. Since 2014, this area has benefited greatly from initiatives to engage producers and promote investment in specialty coffee, culminating in a notable representation at the Cup of Excellence competition in 2017. Advancements in processing techniques and access to farmer education centered on picking, post-harvest procedures, and cupping have helped foster a local producer community full of pride and dedication to their craft.
This coffee from Paulo Federico marks the first new producer relationship Coava has pursued in Brazil. As an alternative and complement to our Nathalia Maria offering, this provides an exciting opportunity to further explore Brazilian specialty coffee.
Due to the high altitudes, high humidity, and lower temperatures in this region, microclimates can sometimes be so small that individual farms may have different climates from crop to crop, offering an additional layer of potential complexity.
Fazenda Casa Nova is a coffee we recommend to fans of Brazilian coffees or those looking for a rich, mellow cup. Its profile is heavy on dense, satisfying flavors like chocolate and nougat, with a subtle fruitiness and mellower acidity.
