Daurfusu

Timor Leste

Daurfusu is a 37-member farmer group in the Dukurai village community led by Simiao Pedro de Deus. A highly skilled producer, quality officer, educator, and community figure, Simiao Pedro de Deus's coffee has also earned top accolades in Timor coffee quality competitions. The lots that make up this selection are processed at the individual farmer level, often utilizing traditional local techniques such as gum-wood and hammered tin pulpers, 36-hr fermentation in buckets or bags, and drying on tarpaulins.

While Timor Leste as a specialty coffee producing country has been somewhat overshadowed by neighboring Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, offerings like Daurfusu stand out as beautiful representations of the high quality and unique flavor profiles that this region can offer.

The climate of Timor Leste is unique for the region in that it is marked by a more distinct dry season that coincides with the harvest, creating better conditions for drying coffee.

Daurfusu is a coffee we recommend to those looking to try a unique coffee from an underrepresented growing region. Its flavors are distinctively complex, ranging from bright and juicy fruit to unique spiced notes.
