Coava goes far beyond just buying, roasting, and preparing great coffee.
Over the last five years we have traveled the world investing in our coffee producing partners through extensive agricultural and processing education. At our core, we believe that quality and sustainability do not just happen. We work hard, continue to learn, and share what we know with our partners. Furthermore, through the amazing support of the Coava community we've been able to move beyond education. Over the last few years we've helped build processing facilities, provided tools, and expanded the support-structure around individual farmers. By doing this, we've been able to increase quality as well as improve the lives of everyone involved in the coffee's journey from farm to cup.
Now in that same spirit, we have chosen to donate a portion of our profits to the amazing Oregon based non-profit, Friends of Family Farmers. They embody our love for agriculture locally in a way that echos our work with coffee producers and inspires us to do more. They educate, unite, and advocate for Oregonians who are working to foster an approach to agriculture that respects the land, treats animals humanely, sustains local communities, and provides a viable livelihood for family farmers.
We submitted to Friends of Family Farmers the stories and practices of several of our coffee producing partners, so that they could find the one that rang true with their values. After tasting and talking it through they chose the delightful Santa Sofia from El Salvador. Produced by the industry leading Pacas family, Santa Sofia has long been a pillar of the quality that Coava strives to embody. Not only do they endlessly audit their own farms, they have pushed forward practices that utilize their natural resources and ensures longevity for future crops.
